Bacchanalia, Mayfair: A Comprehensive Review of London’s Instagram-Famous Restaurant
As a restaurant critic, I frequently explore the latest culinary trends. Lately, London’s Bacchanalia, Mayfair, has been creating quite a buzz on Instagram. With high expectations, I dined at this stylish venue to give you an insider’s perspective. Spoiler alert: My overall rating for Bacchanalia is a 6/10.

Ambience and Atmosphere
The interior design of Bacchanalia is undeniably chic, boasting a tasteful and sophisticated aesthetic that scored a 7/10. However, the overcrowded space detracts from the luxurious feel typically associated with Mayfair’s dining scene. The popularity of Bacchanalia appears to be both a blessing and a curse.

Long Wait Times and Reservation Issues
Despite having a reservation for dinner, we experienced a frustrating 40-minute wait for our table. This was quite disappointing, earning a mere 2/10. During the wait, we were shown to the bar where we managed to order our drinks in an overcrowded setting, which only reminded me of a London pub on a Friday evening. While it was getting impossible for me to stand in heels for 40 minutes, we found a wobbly waiting table to sit and have our drinks while we waited to be taken to our table.
At some point, we did think of cancelling and walking out, but I was quickly reminded that the cancellation fee was £50 per person. Hence, be mindful of this while booking.

Exceptional Entrées and Disappointing Mains
Once seated, we selected caviar Oscietra and Burrata salad as our entrées. Both dishes were outstanding, receiving a perfect 10/10, and are highly recommended for your visit to Bacchanalia.
However, our main courses – Mushroom risotto, Risotto Nero, and Taglioni Truffle – proved less impressive, averaging a 5/10. Only the Risotto Nero stood out, leaving us underwhelmed by the other selections.
We paired our meal with a glass of Chardonnay each, which complemented the dishes nicely. Opting to skip dessert, we felt somewhat let down by our overall dining experience.

Price and Comparison to Other Mayfair Restaurants
Our meal cost a total of £340 for two people, placing Bacchanalia on the higher end of Mayfair’s restaurant pricing. Given the expense, we couldn’t help but contrast our experience with other Mayfair establishments that provide a more refined and luxurious dining atmosphere.

Conclusion: Is Bacchanalia, Mayfair Worth the Hype?
While Bacchanalia, Mayfair boasts some exceptional dishes and a visually appealing interior, the overcrowded environment and lengthy wait times detract from an otherwise extraordinary dining experience. For those seeking a truly luxurious and fine dining evening in Mayfair, you may want to consider alternative venues that better meet your expectations.
