Seville was named the best city to visit by Lonely Planet in 2018. It was not without a reason, this city boasts of sights with rich history, lively culture and booming gastronomic scene.
Well, that ticks off all my travel priorities. Here are some spots that you must visit if you are in Seville or passing through and you can cover the spots in two days.

1. Plaza de Espana

Built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition 1929 by Anibal Gonzalez, it’s a great example of mixing Moorish architecture with Renaissance. The plaza has a beautifully symmetrical design, and it’s surely an incredible site for Travel, Location, architecture as well as Lifestyle Content Creators.

The location is so versatile that it is a must-visit for your Instagram feed.

Photo tip: Although the plaza is open 24hrs and is free to enter, go early in the morning to beat the crowd.

2. Real Alcazar de Seville

This Royal Palace and its history and architecture left me reeling. The royal palace and its gardens were built by Christians on top of the existing Moorish fortress. Hence you will see a combination of both architectures that will leave you feeling you are walking through time.

The spectacle is breathtaking at every turn but my favourite Instagrams corners are
1. El Patio de Las Doncellas ( The Maidens Patio) – Use the courtyard symmetry and the archways to frame the perfect shot
2. Salon de Embajadores (Ambassadors Hall) – Again has beautiful symmetry, architecture and tiled background

Photo tip: Book your tickets online well in advance, when we went during covid they only had tickets online which were sold out for most of the days. If tickets for the day you want are sold out then you can book a guided tour to receive priority entry.
For best Instagram photos, go either early in the morning or towards the end of the day.

3. Casa De Pilatos

If you don’t have time to visit any other spot, I would suggest visiting this one, there are many different angles to choose from as this is the most Instagrammable spot in Seville.
It is a perfect example of an archetypal Andalusian palace with a mix of Italian Renaissance and Spanish Mudejar style. Home to one of the largest collections of azulejos in the world, it boasts around 150 types of colourful ceramic tyles.

Photo tip: Casa de Pilatos isn’t as popular as the other spots, hence it does not get that busy. We went in the afternoon just after lunch and had the palace all to ourselves.

4. Catedral de Sevilla and La Giralda

The Seville Cathedral is the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and the third-largest church in the world. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site too.
Originally it was a mosque in the 12th Century, then a Christian church before being converted to the Cathedral we see today.

Interesting fact: It is also the home of Christopher Columbus’s tomb, it was transferred here from Havana, Cuba during the Cuban revolution of 1902.

Photo tip: if you want to take pics from inside then go early in the morning and book tickets online in advance. I took pics from outside.

5. La Alhambra

La Alhambra is not in Seville, it is located in Granada. But since Granada is just a 45min drive from Seville, I had to add this spot to the list of MUST VISIT.
Made up of 29 towers, 7 gates and a 2000m wall it is full of Insta-worthy shots. The favourites are Hall of sisters and the Court of Lions that will leave you and your followers speechless. This was rumoured to be the first choice for the shooting of Game of Thrones until it was changed to Real Alcazar de Seville.

Best time to visit Seville

March to May and September to November if you want to avoid the Spanish dry heat!
